PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible under specific conditions. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.

Powder, alcohol-resistant foam, water spray, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST!

  • INHALATION
  • Cough (see Ingestion).
Avoid inhalation of fine dust and mist. Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN

  • Protective gloves.
Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower.
  • EYES
  • Redness.
    Safety goggles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
  • Diarrhoea. Shortness of breath. Vomiting. Weakness.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into plastic containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles).
Provision to contain effluent from fire extinguishing. Separated from food and feedstuffs. Cool. Dry. Well closed. Do NOT store in galvanized steel or unlined steel containers.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
    WHITE ODOURLESS SOLID.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating producing toxic fumes including nitrogen oxides, phosphorous oxides. Solutions are corrosive to iron and galvanized steel.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV not established.

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20░C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly on spraying or when dispersed, especially if powered.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes and the respiratory tract.

    PHYSICAL
    PROPERTIES
    Melting point (decomposes): 230░C
    Relative density (water = 1): 1.7
Solubility in water, g/100 ml at 25░C: 1.2
Vapour pressure, Pa at 20░C: negligible
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: -1.0
    ENVIRONMENTAL
    DATA

    N O T E S
The alkali metal and amine salts are readily soluble in water. Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties. Roundup (for the mono(isopropylammonium) salt and Polado (for the sesquisodium salt) are trade names.
